Carlitos back on top?

Another exciting season for Carlos Alcaraz. Since the end of the US Open, the Spanish player has fallen back to world No. 2 in the ATP rankings. However, he still has the chance to finish 2023 at the top of the world rankings, provided he doesn't suffer a series of injuries as he did in New York. Serbia's Novak Djokovic has a 3,280-point lead over the Murcian, but he has a lot to defend between now and the end of the year, and has already announced that he won't be attending the Asian tournaments in Beijing and Shanghai to rest up. Carlitos, on the other hand, is likely to go and make up some of his lost ground, as he has few points to defend since he was injured this time last year and therefore unable to play. The 2 players could therefore be neck and neck for the last European indoor tournaments before the Turin Masters. We could thus witness an exciting mano à mano between the 2 stars of world tennis. Unless Russian Medvedev, not so far away, comes along to spoil the party. Let's hope Carlitos is in top form to play at his best and, why not, become world number 1 again - the answer is next November.

Vamos Carlitos!
