Carlitos in Asia

At last! Despite a few physical problems, Carlos Alcaraz is here. He'll be playing his 1st match of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing tomorrow against Germany's Yannick Hanfmann, ranked 53rd in the world. Carlitos was all smiles at his conference, where he appeared to be in fine form. His objective is clear: to play as well as possible in the forthcoming tournaments, in a bid to reclaim the world number 1 spot vacated by Novak Djokovic since the Serbian's success at the US Open. On Chinese soil, Carlitos will be well accompanied, as the competition is tough and the field very strong, as you can see below. The Murcian will come up against the likes of Holger Rune and Jannick Sinner before a possible final against Russian Daniil Medvedev. In other words, this tournament promises to be very interesting, despite Djokovic's absence.

The last men's winner was Dominic Thiem in 2019, since when there has been no tournament due to covid-19. We therefore wish our Carlitos every success, and why not add his name to the list of winners for a first Asian success?

Vamos Carlitos!
