For Carlos Alcaraz, being in the spotlight for several months is a subtle parameter to manage on a daily basis. Since 2019, he has been lucky enough to work with psychologist Isabel Balaguer, director of the Sports Psychology Investigation Unit in Valencia, a great professional, who guides him week after week. For the Murcian, it's a precious help, as he confided in the Murcia Plaza newspaper: "I even think she's one of the main reasons why I'm number 1 in the world (...) you have to be mentally fresh, you have to be able to handle the pressure". His coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, is on the same wavelength, particularly in terms of the daily routines he puts in place to help him stay calm. As he also points out, the hardest part is ahead of him, as staying up there is harder than getting there. Expectations are high for Alcaraz, who doesn't like to disappoint those closest to him. His disappointment after the US Open 2023 and the need to recover psychologically and physically are more than necessary. Let's have faith in Carlitos and his team that he'll soon be back on the circuit with his joie de vivre and talent.
Vamos Carlitos!
